Greetings families! Third through fifth grade students have made it through two days of K-PREP! Fourth graders will be finished today and fifth graders will test through Tuesday. Please make sure students are getting lots of rest and arrive in time to eat a good breakfast. Primary students are keeping up the hard work as well! Make sure students keep reading nightly and working on mental math and math facts. Primary students will be completing their last round of DRA reading assessments for the school year over the last few weeks. Make sure to ask your child's teacher about reading and math MAP growth as well as DRA scores!
The end of the year plans are already in action! Field day for students with excellent classroom effort and behavior will be on Friday, May 25th. Students must be present to learn and following our school-wide expectations each day. Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and peaceful problem solvers. For students not following the JCPS Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook, students will be disciplined based on level of infraction. Congratulations to all of our first group of Girls on the Run participants and volunteers who completed their first 5K run on Saturday! Their medals look great! Also, a shout out to our first BFES Brownie troop girls who will also be finishing up their meetings this week for the 2017-2018 school year. Please discuss appropriate school behaviors with your children regularly. Students earn HOP tickets from teachers and staff regularly when they are following our school-wide expectations. We will have our annual HOP ticket drawings the last week of school. We are accepting donations for larger prizes such as games, balls, G rated movies, new books, a girls bike, and a boys bike. If you, a business, or an organization would be willing to donate items please contact Donna Stevenson at 485-8215. Any donations are greatly appreciated! Our FIFTH GRADE PROMOTION ceremony will be May 31st at 10 a.m. Families attending please note that balloons are not allowed. The 2017-2018 school year will be coming to an end soon!
